Our Wedding – 9.27.20 Part 2 Portraits + Ceremony

Right after our first look, we went right into portraits (with the ceremony/dinner to follow). During our portraits we had cocktail hour going on which we actually got to join in on after photos! It was so fun being able to spend time with our family + close friends before the ceremony.

The stairs of the historic plantation home are beautiful and one of the first things that drew me to this venue. I knew from photos it would be beautiful but when I saw it in person I knew we had to get married there. One of my favorite parts of a small intimate wedding was that we got to spend an hour walking around our venue for photos- it was so relaxed and so fun to spend that time with Ty
My dad made the cross for our ceremony which was so special. We found the wood at an antique show the year prior and it was beyond perfect for the cross.
I had dreamed of wedding portraits under the spanish moss ever since we decided to have our wedding in Charleston
Fun fact- the sheer neckline of my dress is from my mom’s wedding dress, and the buttons that line the back of my dress are from my grandma’s dress. She passed years ago and I was so close to her. Not having her there was hard but I know she was watching from Heaven! Having my dress incorporate their dresses meant everything to me. Not going a traditional route with my dress turned out to be one of my favorite aspects in terms of details. I can’t wait to pass my dress down to my daughter someday- It’ll have 3 generations of wedding dresses!
Having Minnie be a part of our day was so sweet. She’s the best and completes our little family!
We had another part of my grandma’s dress added to the skirt of my dress. There is a little note rolled up from Ty in the pocket of the heart. I will open it on our one year anniversary (which will be in Charleston) (:
Since my dress was simple, I went with a pearl veil. I just love how it added a fun touch to my wedding look.

Next up is the ceremony! My Uncle Dan was our officiant and it meant the absolute world to have him do that for us. Asking him was a day I will never forget. We all cried happy tears after Ty & I gifted him an officiant book with a letter asking if he would be the one to marry us. He made the ceremony so God-centered and special to our relationship. He had asked us questions prior to the wedding about each other and shared it during the ceremony. Most people want to speed through ceremonies but I highly encourage you to think of ways to make it special. It’s the whole reason you are there, anyway(: We added special elements like Tyler’s mom reading a verse, my aunt Lori doing a blessing (with the same oil I was dedicated with), and Dan giving a little background to our relationship

Of course, Minnie had to have her moment walking down the aisle with my (soon-to-be) sister Isabel, who just adores Minnie!
I knew if I looked up at Ty I would just cry & I wanted to hold it together- I cried enough during my first look- ha!
We had a string duo play during our cocktail hour, ceremony & dinner and it was magical. I would recommend it to anyone looking for a unique touch. I walked down to “Somewhere Over the Rainbow”
We had the string duo play “The Charleston” after we were pronounced husband and wife- such an upbeat & fun song which was pretty fitting(; We also had guests throw olive leaves!
This was right after being pronounced husband and wife- we walked away and the first thing I said was “Thank you, Jesus!” It was a long road to get to this day and it was anything but easy. After having to postpone & almost not being able to have our 2nd wedding date happen due to a covid scare- we were finally married… pure happiness
We love our families- being able to celebrate with them meant the world to us
My parents are everything to me. I feel so lucky to have such a great relationship with them & I won’t ever take that for granted. This day was only possible because of them and I could never thank them enough for making all of our wedding dreams come true.
I just adore this photo of Ty and his mama!

Part 3 will be dinner & reception! Some of my favorites are in there & I cant wait to share! Stay tuned!
